Mosaic (6th album)

Nostalgia

Overthinking

Sit With It

Meaning:

Nostalgia is a song I wrote during a milestone birthday about the little comforts in life that we strive to hold close to our hearts even as we get older...it's what keeps us grounded as life gets more complicated.

Lyrics:

Sometimes

I need a little nostalgia

Rewind

I need a little reminder

Little comforts in this life

Held near and dear always in sight

I need I need

A little nostaglia

I think it keeps

It keeps me grounded

I couldn't live without it

How it felt and how it sounded

I need a little nostalgia

Journals

And scribbled notes

Hurdles

But we had hope

Little comforts in this life

Held near and dear always in sight

I need I need

A little nostaglia

I think it keeps

It keeps me grounded

I couldn't live without it

How it felt and how it sounded

I need a little nostalgia

And we could talk for hours

The sun clears all the shadows

Memories grow back like flowers

In the springtime

Medicine was just our laughter

I need I need

A little nostaglia

I think it keeps

It keeps me grounded

I couldn't live without it

How it felt and how it sounded

I need a little nostalgia

Sit With It

Overthinking

Sit With It

Meaning:

Sit With It is a song about coping with changes we make in life. At first, it can feel uncomfortable as we adjust. This song reminds us to sit with the emotions and allow things to fall into place over time. It is also a reminder to figure out where we are actually directing ourselves more intentionally.

Lyrics:

When you start to change

A feeling comes your way

Everything you knew

All the things you'd always say

It's not coming out the same

It's not coming out the same

It's not coming out

It's not coming out the same

Maybe I'm afraid

Without knowing why without reason why

It feels so vague

I'm not running away

A whisper in my ear

Tells me it's okay

Just sit with it

Oh for a moment

Hold still the world it will

Keep turning until

You can see another view

We can hear each other, too

Just sit with it

Oh for a moment

Hold still the world it will

Keep turning until

You can see another view and

We can hear each other, too

Now it's time to go

It's time to let it roll

Off my shoulders

Water drops fall

From my head to toe

Cleansing my soul

Just sit with it

Oh for a moment

Hold still the world it will

Keep turning until

You can see another view

We can hear each other, too

Just sit with it

Oh for a moment

Hold still the world it will

Keep turning until

You can see another view and

We can hear each other, too

Overthinking

Overthinking

Slippery Slope

Meaning:

Overthinking is a song I wrote about, well, overthinking. We all do it to some degree, especially when there is uncertainty. The song reminds us that thinking way too much about something is sometimes a coping mechanism that interferes with just feeling our way through and looking at the bigger picture.

 Lyrics:

Like a wavy reflection

I see it

Then it's gone but my doubt lingers on

Like a question after a question

My mind seeks

Certainty get close but it escapes me

Telling everyone to stop

I'm overthinking

Reaching up up to the top

But I'm just sinking

Overthinking

Tripping over all these lines

Reading too deeply inside

Now it's time just to feel it

I can't beat it

I'm just human

Ain't that one thing we all believe in

Like a wavy reflection

Keep changing

My self-perception

Stuck inside a riddle

Words keep

Changing little by little

Telling everyone to stop

I'm overthinking

Reaching up up to the top

But I'm just sinking

Overthinking

Tripping over all these lines

Reading too deeply inside

Now it's time just to feel it

I can't beat it

I'm just human

Ain't that one thing we all believe in

Overthinking overreaching

Pull me back in

Cause I've been feeling like I'm dreaming

Slippery Slope

Slippery Slope

Slippery Slope

Meaning:

Slipper Slope is a song about the experience of doing something that we later learn did not serve us very well. It's when we get caught up in the emotions of something and swept away...but we can always come back from it and 'dig out of the hole' while having grace and patience for ourselves.

Lyrics:

I should've known this slope was slippery

When I was romanticizing

Emotions were rising

Got the best of me got the best of me, woah

My feet oh my feet were sliding

Couldn't even look behind me

Sliding down

Sliding down this slope

Happened faster than I had hoped

Now I'm digging

Digging myself out of this hole

There's always tomorrow

Yeah so and so

They could say they told me so

We'll figure it out as we grow old

Be gentle 'cause it takes a toll, woah

Sliding down

Sliding down this slope

Happened faster than I had hoped

Now I'm digging

Digging myself out of this hole

There's always tomorrow

Possessions

Can't replace real connection

Spread my wings to be

Who I was mean to be

Sliding down

Sliding down this slope

Happened faster than I had hoped

Now I'm digging

Digging myself out of this hole

There's always tomorrow

Mosaic

Slippery Slope

Deep End

Meaning:

Mosaic is a song I wrote for anyone who feels there is more than one way of describing yourself. It's a song about allowing for multiple parts of yourself to come together in harmony and to live in an integrated way.

Lyrics:

Like a puzzle

I'm pushing pieces together

Became a struggle

It ain't me and perfect ain't better

I'm more like a

Mosaic

Integrated

Parts of me

Living in harmony

Mosaic

Integrated

Parts of me

Living in harmony

Collected

All my differences

Colors blended

I welcomed all of it

I'm more like a

Mosaic

Integrated

Parts of me

Living in harmony

Mosaic

Integrated

Parts of me

Living in harmony

The in between

The missing piece

That's still me

Mosaic

Integrated

Parts of me

Living in harmony

Mosaic

Integrated

Parts of me

Living in harmony

Deep End

Slippery Slope

Deep End

Meaning:

Deep End is a song I wrote that can be interpreted as a start to any difficult, but meaningful conversation. It's about validating that we are all coping with something and it's okay to dive into the deep end and start talking through the deeper aspects of life, much like starting therapy.

Lyrics:

Feels like a no win

Stuck situation

Where to begin

To start the converation

Everybody's coping

Not knowing where we're going

Everybody's coping with somethin'

I'm diving in

To the deep end

Sink for a little then swim

Yeah I'm diving in

To the deep end

Let it all sink in

I'm diving in

Choosing my words

Putting myself first

Now's my turn

To be heard

Everybody's coping

Not knowing where we're going

Everybody's coping with somethin'

I'm diving in

To the deep end

Sink for a little then swim

Yeah I'm diving in

To the deep end

Let it all sink in

I'm diving in

Fear and pain

I'd push away

Run away

Overcompensate

But I've changed my coping ways

I'm diving in

To the deep end

Sink for a little then swim

Yeah I'm diving in

To the deep end

Let it all sink in

I'm diving in

Water My Garden

Water My Garden

Water My Garden

Meaning:

Water My Garden is a song I wrote about the experience of being hooked into using social media and how it can feel exciting and stimulating at first, but over time, it gets old and drains your energy. The resolution of the song is using the metaphor of watering your garden as a way to get back to the foundations of nurturing yourself.

Lyrics:

Yeah I know

A million other people told me how this goes

Gotta be seen

Gotta be known

There's no in between reap what you sow

Everybody's tryin' look pretty

Getting dressed up like a game of chess

At first you thought that you were living

But now it's getting, getting old

I'd rather water my garden

Finish what I started

Life ain't half as hard when we heal

From all the hardships

Feel the sun that's shining

Life is life is finally real

Rising up from the bottom

Watch me as I blossom

'Cause I watered my garden

Relief

Happiness and what it means to me

Livin' in a dream

Lucid and I'm finally free

Everybody's tryin' look pretty

Getting dressed up like a game of chess

At first you thought that you were living

But now it's getting, getting old

I'd rather water my garden

Finish what I started

Life ain't half as hard when we heal

From all the hardships

Feel the sun that's shining

Life is life is finally real

Rising up from the bottom

Watch me as I blossom

'Cause I watered my garden

Back to Balance

Water My Garden

Water My Garden

Meaning:

Back to Balance is a song I wrote for anyone who gets caught up in the cycle of going and going without stopping. It's a reminder that you can have people in your life who you can turn to to open up and talk through what's going on inside. And by doing so, you can come back to balance.

Lyrics:

You've been trying

To be happy when no one's looking

For some peace

Holding it in now

With no release

Like an itch

You just can't scratch

Having everything

But worry that it won't last

You've been running running running

Running around

Ya gotta talk about it

Come back to balance

Up and down you can feel

Safe and sound

Don't have to be so tragic, dramatic

Come talk we're here come talk come back to balance

Tied up like a shoelace

Not breathing

While you're running the race

Like an itch

You just can't scratch

Having everything

But worry that it won't last

You've been running running running

Running around

Ya gotta talk about it

Come back to balance

Up and down you can feel

Safe and sound

Don't have to be so tragic, dramatic

Come talk we're here come talk come back to balance

What you feel

Let it be revealed

Have patience and compassion

You've been running running running

Running around

Ya gotta talk about it

Come back to balance

Up and down you can feel

Safe and sound

Don't have to be so tragic, dramatic

Come talk we're here come talk come back to balance
